Some days you may not feel like meditating. Procrastinate instead. Clean up the house.
‘Although it is totally fine to meditate with dishes in the sink, if you have the impulse to straighten up, go for it. Indulge in the cleaning instinct. Puttering around may also serve to clean up your mind, so to speak. Sometimes this can open the way to a deeper, more fulfilling meditation.
-- Or put on some music and sing and dance.
-- Take a walk before meditating.
-- Lie down and nap. Then sit up and meditate for a few minutes.
This “I don’t wanna meditate” feeling can contain many ways to enrich and open the way for your meditative experience.
While it’s useful to have a consistent daily practice, the real practice is to show up for life—both your internal and your outer life. These callings to do something else first may seem like procrastination, but in fact, they may be doorways to adventure in themselves.
